Pompeii sells its own tickets, and a booking partner, a third party, sells entry tickets and tours for it. This page puts the official prices first. We read the Park’s website on 23 October 2026, and prices and rules change.

The Parco Archeologico di Pompei sells two main tickets, with separate daily quotas.
| Ticket | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Pompei Express | 20 euros | The ancient city only, one entry (you cannot leave and re-enter) |
| Pompei+ | 25 euros | The ancient city, the Villa of the Mysteries, the Villa of Diomedes, Villa Regina at Boscoreale with the Antiquarium, and the shuttle |
| Villas add-on | 8 euros | For Pompei Express holders, card only, at the start of the villas route (Porta Ercolano, Via delle Tombe) |
| 3-day ticket | 30 euros | Pompei+, Oplontis, Villa Arianna, Villa San Marco, Stabia Archaeological Museum and Boscoreale, with the shuttle; one entry per site |
| EU citizens aged 18 to 24 | 2 euros | On Pompei Express, Pompei+ and the 3-day ticket (not listed for the villas add-on and the themed route) |
| Themed route with a Park guide | 8 euros plus the entry | About 1 hour 30, groups of 20 to 25, radio headset |
The Park’s pages that we read do not list a free ticket for under-18s: check the Park. The official audio guide costs 9 euros for one device and 14 euros for two. The villas are not sold on their own.
Named ticket, time slot and the 20,000 daily cap
Since 15 November 2024 tickets for Pompeii are personal, and a daily limit applies. The Park’s regulation (decree no. 446 of 23 December 2025, art. 3 and Annex A) sets “limite giornaliero di 20.000 ingressi al giorno, distribuiti nella misura di 15.000 ingressi nella prima fascia e 5.000 ingressi nella seconda fascia” (translation ours: a daily limit of 20,000 entries, split into 15,000 in the first time slot and 5,000 in the second). The slots are 9:00 to 13:00 and from 13:01 to the last entry.
- Personal ticket: it is not transferable. You can buy it online or at a ticket office with a valid ID, and the Park may ask for the ID at the gate.
- No changes, no refunds: the name and the date cannot be changed, and named tickets are not refundable except if the Park closes on an extraordinary basis.
- The cap applies to everyone: for summer the Park’s page breaks it down by ticket type (9:00 to 13:00: at most 12,000 Pompei Express and 3,000 Pompei+; 13:01 to 17:30: at most 3,000 and 2,000).
The Park’s tariff page speaks of slots in the summer period, while the regulation defines them for winter too. Treat the slot as compulsory and check it when you buy. The Park says that with a ticket bought in advance you go straight to the turnstiles, but the date and the slot are the same for everyone.
Where the Park sells tickets
You can buy at the ticket offices and automatic machines at the three entrances (Porta Marina, Piazza Esedra and Piazza Anfiteatro) and online. On its home page the Park writes that you can buy online through www.vivaticket.it, “unico rivenditore autorizzato” (translation ours: the only authorised reseller). We could not read the Vivaticket portal, so we cannot say in which languages it works or whether it charges a presale fee.
Free days
Entry is free on the first Sunday of every month. The Park has confirmed Sunday 1 November and Wednesday 4 November 2026. On free days you cannot book or buy online and there is no named ticket: you go straight to the turnstiles, and the 20,000 limit stays in force. The national free days of 25 April and 2 June are not listed on the Park’s pages that we read: check before you go.
What the partner’s tickets add
Prices are the ones we saw on Tiqets on 23 October 2026. The Park’s site does not mention Tiqets, and how Tiqets obtains named tickets is not stated there, so we do not call it official or authorised.
| Tiqets product | Official price | Tiqets price | What Tiqets adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pompeii: entry tickets | 20 euros (Pompei Express) | 27.50 euros | Booking in the same place as tours and tickets for Mount Vesuvius, an instant ticket on your phone |
| Pompeii: entry ticket with a flexible date | 20 euros (Pompei Express) | 27 euros | The same; its tagline mentions an audio guide, but we could not confirm one is included |
| Pompeii: guided tour with an archaeologist | 20 euros plus the Park’s 8-euro route | 49.50 euros | A live guide with a headset and the entry in one booking |
| Pompeii: guided tour + day trip from Naples | 20 euros for the entry | 64.90 euros | Round-trip transport from Naples, a live guide and the entry, about 4 hours |
| Pompeii: entry ticket + 3D tour of the ancient city with AR glasses | 20 euros (Pompei Express) | 52 euros | About 2 hours of 3D tour with AR glasses; the Villa of the Mysteries is not included |
The Tiqets entry tickets are non-refundable, like the official named ticket. Some Tiqets titles hint at a quicker way in: at Pompeii the daily cap and the time slots apply to every ticket, so no product gets around them. The Park admits only official or authorised audio guides (regulation, art. 6), so ask what a third-party product provides.
Tickets for Mount Vesuvius
The Gran Cono of Vesuvius has its own ticket, sold online only and always with a time slot. The Park shows “from 10 euros” and names vesuviopark.vivaticket.it as its only authorised seller, and the path closes automatically on days with an orange weather alert, with automatic refunds for tickets bought on the Park’s site. See the tickets page for Mount Vesuvius for the prices, the warnings and the cards.
Which ticket to choose
- Only the ancient city: the Pompei Express is the official 20-euro ticket; compare it with the Tiqets entry tickets above.
- The Villa of the Mysteries: it needs Pompei+ (25 euros) or the 8-euro add-on, both sold by the Park.
- A guide: the Park’s own themed route costs 8 euros plus the entry; the Tiqets guided tours are different products with their own length and price.
- Vesuvius too: buy the Gran Cono slot first, because it is online only and has a fixed hour.
Check the hours before you pick a day: see the opening hours page for the summer and winter timetable, the tickets page for Pompeii for all the cards and the directions page for the train.
